Academic Integrity - Avoiding Plagiarism

Oxford Dictionary defines plagiarism as “the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own.” A person involved in academic writing is not supposed to use another author’s content without due acknowledgement and adequate citations and references. Plagiarism leads to poor quality of content, stunted creativity, loss of reputation, academic penalty, suspension, expulsion, legal and criminal action, and career damage.
This workshop will help in understanding what constitutes plagiarism, how it is checked and the methods used to avoid plagiarism. A lot of exercises would be given to differentiate between a plagiarised content and original content. Besides, through this workshop, a participant will learn how to paraphrase and write to produce original content.
